Blog EntryMy African Adventure, So Far...May 16, '08 11:20 AM
for everyone
WEDNESDAY
Landed in Cape Town - one of the most beautiful cities on the planet - after a 20 hour flight from Manila. Quick trip to the guest house for a shower and change of clothes, then to the staff meeting to speak to pastors & leaders from all over southern Africa.
Lunch break.
Afternoon meetings.
Then preached at the evening meeting. No idea what i said. Triple jet lag. I'm on 3 time zones all at the same time - Nash, MNL and CPT.

THURSDAY
Apointments all day with African church planters, pastors and campus missionaries. I am so impressed with the passion and faith of these great leaders. Living Legends!
Opening of the main conference. Powerful worship! You'd have to be in a spiritual coma to not be impacted by the presence of God in these meetings.
Tough time preaching, as i usually use humor to help people pay attention. But it's hard to be funny just a few hours after hearing that a friend got arrested in the Middle East.

FRIDAY
Met with the African Leadership Team this morning, then got a tour of Thembalitsha, then met with more pastors to talk about discipleship & church planting.
And ate some HOT chicken at Nando's! Tongues of fire! And lips on fire!
Really impressed with the work Frank (the Tank) and the Themba people are doing. Real faith in action!
Check out Frank's Being Frank blog.

Gotta go to my nxt meeting, then to the conf.

To be continued...

Thanks for the post, Steve. I suspect that your jet-lagged ramblings have more valuable content that many fully-conscious deliveries.

curl your toes - don't drink any coffee (starbucks), soak in water inside and out, a brisk run or walk, ambien and melatonin - some of the things you can do for your triple jet lag - soon to be four.

hey pastor steve...you said to comment, so here i am ;) Chandre from the His People in Kuils River under Pastor Carlton :) Thanks for sharing both the humour and the seriousness... I dont know if you know how muslim Cape Town is, we kinda have become immune at times to believing muslims can be saved cause know so many people who have married muslim here and changed for a boyfriend. But in listening to what you shared, it just ignited a new passion and hope that Wow God has plans and there are so many just waiting to hear the truth of Jesus spoken in an authentic passionate way... So ja I know it's tough, but I think now that there are more of us changing our hearts and joining in the prayer, there will be more fruits too... And to your jokes, it was really funny :) Esp the one of the president of Every Nation, I've been playing around with words and thinking instead of saying Senior Pastor of His People, we could have said the President of His People too :)

Bottom line, thanks for what you are doing, I listened to your pride podcast recently and had a lot of repenting to do, So just want to let you know thanks, but know too that you are prayed for. It's a big job you have and so really Pastor Steve, I pray that you will dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of your life to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, and that God will continue to use you for His purposes and continue to anoint you with ability to impart that same passion in others. God bless you... Keep looking to Jesus, the author and the perfector of your faith, and as Ps Frank said tonight, the One who chose you to bear fruit that will last :) God bless! chan
